Bomb Blast in Afghanistan Kills Five, Injures Seven۔ A bomb blast in northeastern Afghanistan has killed at least five people and wounded seven others, according to local police. The attack occurred on Tuesday at 8:35 a.m. (04:05 GMT) near a Kabul Bank branch in Kunduz province. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing.
Among the deceased were a security guard from the bank, four civilians, and members of the Taliban. Police spokesperson Jumadin Khaksar confirmed that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who detonated improvised explosive devices.
Authorities are working to identify the perpetrators, with Kunduz province police coordinating with relevant organizations to bring them to justice.
Though the frequency of bombings and suicide attacks in Afghanistan has decreased since the U.S. military withdrawal and the Taliban’s rise to power in August 2021, several armed groups, including ISIS, continue to pose a threat. Past attacks have included bombings at mosques and other public locations, with ISIS claiming responsibility for some of them. Despite the Taliban’s assurances of control, armed groups remain active in the region.
