Dense fog disrupts traffic in Lahore, temperature drops to 5°C
Weather update! New Rain System Expected to Enter in Pakistan on THIS date. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted the arrival of a new rain system on January 14, which is expected to bring rainfall across various regions of the country. This weather system is anticipated to help alleviate the dense fog currently affecting several areas, particularly in Punjab, by reducing its intensity.
As of today, dry conditions persist in most parts of Punjab, including Lahore, where dense fog has taken over the plains. The thick fog has led to significantly reduced visibility, with some areas recording as low as 50 meters, causing potential traffic disruptions. The minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded at 5°C, with a maximum temperature expected to reach 17°C.
Meanwhile, the cold wave affecting Karachi and the rest of Sindh is expected to continue for the next two days. Karachi has been experiencing chilly weather, with temperatures dropping to 8°C to 9°C, while daytime highs range between 25°C and 27°C. The city also recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5°C, along with stronger-than-usual winds.
In addition, light rain or drizzle is expected in parts of Sindh, including Sanghar, Tharparkar, and Umerkot districts, by the evening or night of January 15. The incoming rain system is expected to provide some relief from the ongoing cold and fog, improving overall weather conditions across the affected regions.
