“We will not rest until the people of Kashmir break free from the shackles of occupation and realize their dream of self-determination,” Mushaal said.
Mushaal condemns farcical elections in IIOJK, calls for global action against Indian atrocities. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of jailed Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, has vehemently denounced the recent elections held in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a “farce” aimed at legitimizing India’s unlawful occupation of the region. Speaking at an event organized by the Islamabad Bar Association titled “Farcical Elections in IIOJK and the Way Forward,” Mushaal called on the international legal fraternity to expose India’s human rights violations and war crimes on the global stage.
Mushaal, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, condemned the Indian government’s manipulation of the demographic landscape in IIOJK, accusing them of illegally issuing domiciles to settlers and deploying additional troops to intimidate Kashmiri residents into participating in the sham elections.
She stressed that these elections are a blatant attempt by India to suppress the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, a right guaranteed by UN Security Council resolutions. “India’s fascist government has turned Kashmir into a garrison city, a killing field where innocent lives are lost, and the world remains silent,” she lamented.

Urging the international legal community to take action, Mushaal emphasized the need for global accountability, highlighting the impunity enjoyed by Indian forces in the region. She called on the United Nations and other international bodies to intervene to prevent further bloodshed and ensure that the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for freedom and self-determination are realized.
Mushaal also demanded the immediate release of her husband, Yasin Malik, along with other political prisoners unjustly held by Indian authorities. She reiterated the Kashmiris’ unwavering resolve to achieve freedom from Indian rule, asserting, “We will not rest until the people of Kashmir break free from the shackles of occupation and realize their dream of self-determination.”
In her closing remarks, Mushaal Mullick urged the global community to not turn a blind eye to the ongoing atrocities in IIOJK, emphasizing the urgent need for justice and human rights for the oppressed Kashmiri people.
