LAHORE: Customs officials arrested an air hostess of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for smuggling foreign currency out of the country on Saturday.
The air hostess was caught red-handed with 40,000 Saudi Riyals and US $37,318 hidden in her socks at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
According to Deputy Collector Customs Raja Bilal, the air hostess of the national flag carrier was supposed to fly out of Lahore on a foreign-bound flight but was offloaded after being suspected of smuggling.
Furthermore, a customs official stated, that the air hostess was searched based on suspicion, and the currency was discovered hidden in various parts of her body.

“She was immediately removed from the Jeddah-bound flight, and a case was registered against her and handed over to the investigation team,” he added.
