As per the details, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a significant increase in electricity rates, with base rates increasing by Rs 5.72 paise per unit and fuel charges by Rs 3.41 paise per unit. The new tariff structure means that even a small increase in electricity usage can push consumers into higher billing categories. For example, if a protected customer consumes more than 200 units in a month, he will move to the unprotected category, resulting in a higher electricity bill.
