PESHAWAR: The chairman and several members of the Board of Governors (BoGs) of six medical teaching institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been dismissed from their positions.
The Department of Health announced the removal of Professor Dr. Zubair Khan from Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, Dr. Umar Ayub Khan from Khyber Teaching Hospital, Ghulam Qadir Khan from Hayat Medical Complex, Attaullah Toro from Mardan Medical Complex, Abdul Rauf Khan from Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital Bannu, and Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Khan from Qazi Hussain Ahmed Shaheed Hospital. Additionally, 24 other members of the BoGs were also relieved of their duties.
Following the dismissals, Dr. Naushirwan Barki, cousin of PTI Chairman, has been reinstated as a member of the Board of Governors of Lady Reading Hospital for a three-year term based on recommendations from the Search and Nomination Council. Dr. Shahnawaz has also been appointed as a member of Lady Reading Hospital’s BoG.
Further appointments include Major General (retd) Amjad Fahim, Malik Akhtar Hussain Awan, and Khalid Rasool as members of the BoG of Hayatabad Medical Complex, and Taimur Shah and Rubina Nauman Gilani as members of the BoG of Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar.

Similarly, new appointments include Dr. Asif Loya at Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, Prof. Nurul Ayman and Dr. Jahanzeb Malik at Qazi Hussain Ahmed Memorial Hospital Nowshera, Major General Muhammad Salahuddin Qasim and Dr. Tufail Muhammad at Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi, Dr. Arshad Javed, Dr. Najibur Rahman Khan, and Dr. Arif Aslam Kundi at Mardan Medical Complex, and Dr. Abid Jameel, Dr. Alamzeb Khan, Dr. Saeedullah Shah, and Dr. Zafarullah at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital.
