Despite the challenges posed by high pollen levels, the ongoing wet spell brings hope for relief to allergy sufferers.
Pollen Concentration in Islamabad Reaches Alarming Levels. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported a significant increase in pollen concentration in Islamabad, raising concerns for allergy patients across the federal capital.
According to the latest data released by the PMD on Wednesday, the overall pollen concentration has soared to a very high level, reaching 48,351. This surge in pollen levels is attributed to seasonal changes, with further increases anticipated in the coming days.
Among the most prevalent pollen types in Islamabad are Paper Mulberry, Acacia, Eucalyptus, Pines, Grasses, Cannabis, Dandelion, and Alternaria. Particularly, Paper Mulberry stands out with the highest pollen count of 48,251 per cubic meter of air.
While Paper Mulberry dominates the pollen count, other species such as Cannabis, Grasses, Alternaria, and Pine also contribute to the overall concentration. The prevailing wet weather conditions offer some respite to allergy sufferers, as rainfall and limited pollen movement alleviate symptoms.
However, the PMD advises individuals with pollen allergies to take precautionary measures during this period of heightened concentration. Hot, dry, and windy conditions tend to exacerbate allergy symptoms, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and prepared.
