Pakistan Martyrs Day: Govt announces May 25 as public holiday. The federal government on Tuesday announced a public holiday on account of Pakistan Martyrs Day on May 25 (Thursday).
The announcement of the public holiday comes after Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir a day earlier declared May 25 as Pakistan Martyrs Day.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the holiday and the Cabinet Divison also issued a notification in this regard.
Earlier today, Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) announced that all schools would remain closed on May 25.

President of APPSF Kashif Mirza said that board exams will be held as per schedule, however, the classes will resume regularly on May 26 as per schedule.

Mirza said that all the summer vacations across the country will start from June 15 to August 14, adding that the schools will reopen on August 15.
Meanwhile, the president also said that the summer vacations in the province of Sindh will begin from June 1 to July 31.
Earlier, the military also announced that all those who had vandalised military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commanders House and the GHQ entrance, would be tried under the Pakistan Army Act and the Official Secrets Act.
