Pakistan, China Begin Warrior-IX Counterterrorism Drill

The Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have launched Warrior-IX, the ninth installment of their yearly joint counterterrorism exercise, reflecting the strong military ties between the two allied nations.

The exercise, which started on 1 December 2025, is centered on counterterrorism operations and is designed to improve coordination, strengthen professional capabilities and facilitate the exchange of modern warfare techniques between the two armies.

Pakistan and China have a long-standing and resilient defence partnership built on mutual confidence and strategic alignment. Warrior-IX reflects the strength of their military cooperation and underscores their joint resolve to promote peace, stability and security in the region.

The opening ceremony at the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) in Pabbi was attended by senior military leaders from both nations including the Mangla Corps Commander and Major General Bian Xiaoming, Deputy Chief of Staff of the PLA’s Western Theatre Command.

It is pertinent to mention that in October 2024, Pakistan and China agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors.
