Iranian President Rejects Negotiations with Trump, Tells Him to “Do Whatever Damn Thing” He Wants. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian firmly rejected the possibility of negotiating with the United States under pressure or threats, responding to U.S. President Donald Trump‘s recent remarks regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
In a meeting with Iranian producers and entrepreneurs on Tuesday, Pezeshkian stated, “It’s not acceptable for them to say, ‘we’re ordering you not to do this, and not to do that, or we’ll do this.'” He added, “I’m not coming to negotiate with you at all. Go and do whatever damn thing you want.”
Pezeshkian’s remarks followed Trump’s statement last Friday, in which he revealed that he had written to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urging Tehran to strike a new deal on its nuclear program or face the possibility of military action.
The Iranian president, who was elected in July, has previously advocated for reviving the 2015 nuclear accord, which collapsed after Trump withdrew the U.S. from the agreement in 2018. However, Khamenei, who holds ultimate authority in Iran, has insisted that negotiating with the U.S. would be “unwise” due to Washington’s withdrawal from the original agreement.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated last week that Tehran would not engage in direct negotiations with the U.S. as long as Washington continues its “maximum pressure” policy and threats.
Pezeshkian emphasized that while Iran seeks to engage with the world, it will not tolerate humiliation, stating, “We need to have a relationship with the world… but we’re not supposed to bow in humiliation to anyone.”
