ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered to close all restaurants including The Monal situated in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills National Park within three months.
According to the details, Monal Restaurant voluntarily agreed to relocate the restaurant in three months. All other restaurants in the National Park area have also been instructed to transfer within three months.
During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faiz Isa sought details of all other restaurants located in Margalla Hills National Park from the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
If the lease is intended anywhere outside the national park, priority should be given to the affected restaurants, the court said, adding that the restaurants established in the National Park should be completely abolished in three months.
Rejecting the CDA’s report on Monal restaurant, CJP remarked that commercial activities could not be allowed in the National Park area and summoned the Chairman CDA.
