Imran Khan & Bushra Bibi indicted in ‘Un-Islamic’ Nikah Case. In a significant development, a local court indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan, along with his wife, Bushra Bibi, in an ‘Iddat’ case on Tuesday. The charges stem from a case filed by Bushra’s former husband, Khawar Maneka, last month, accusing the couple of violating Islamic norms.
Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah presided over the hearing at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, formally initiating the trial in the case. The court summoned witnesses for the next hearing as it delves into the intricacies of the accusations.
During the hearing, the judge read out the charges with Imran Khan present in the court at Adiala Jail. However, Bushra Bibi did not appear, leading to apparent displeasure from the judge.
The marriage in question took place in February 2018 in Lahore, with the ceremony attended by close relatives and friends. Notably, Imran Khan’s sisters were absent from the event. Mufti Saeed officiated the nikah in the presence of witnesses, including former PTI leader Awn Chaudhary and former SAPM Zulfi Bukhari.
