BBC Officially Announces Comeback of the World’s Biggest Car Show
The BBC has confirmed that Top Gear will finally return to television screens. Ed Havard, the BBC’s Director of Entertainment, made the announcement recently. He revealed the news during a session at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
He confirmed that BBC Studios will produce this brand-new season. Several major details about the show remain undecided for now. Including the format, presenting lineup and exact premiere date are still unknown.
Why the Show Went Off Air in the First Place
Top Gear has not aired new episodes since December 2022. Production stopped after presenter Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff suffered a serious accident. He was injured while filming a stunt involving a three-wheeled vehicle. The open top car overturned suddenly during a test track segment.
Flintoff sustained significant injuries during that frightening on-set crash. The BBC paused filming immediately and reviewed the show’s safety procedures.
