The Mega Show Pakistan Independence Day Event at Expo City Dubai burst into life today, bringing a wave of green and white to the heart of the UAE. As the clock struck 11 a.m., thousands gathered to mark Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with pride, energy, and a powerful sense of unity.
Hosted by Emirates Loves Pakistan in partnership with the Pakistan Association Dubai and supported by Dubai Police, the event quickly turned into one of the biggest overseas celebrations of the year. The day offered a rich blend of culture, music, cuisine, and community spirit.
Parade of Unity Starts the Day
The festivities began with the Parade of Unity, led by Mohammed Kalik, showcasing over 15 cultural and community groups. Each contingent represented a province, profession, or tradition of Pakistan. Dressed in colorful, traditional attire, participants waved flags and danced to folk rhythms.
The parade brought the sights and sounds of Pakistan to Dubai’s streets, celebrating the nation’s cultural diversity. Visitors and residents alike paused to capture the moment on their phones, sharing the energy across social media.

Culture, Cuisine, and Celebration All Day
Inside Expo City Dubai, families explored an array of food stalls serving authentic Pakistani favorites—from spicy biryani to sizzling kebabs and sweet jalebis. Local artisans displayed handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry, allowing visitors to take a piece of Pakistan home with them.
On stage, the performances never stopped. From Punjabi bhangra to Sindhi folk, Sufi qawwali to modern fusion bands, the event became a living showcase of Pakistan’s artistic heritage. The air conditioning kept guests cool as the festivities rolled on, undeterred by Dubai’s summer heat.
A Celebration of Friendship
More than a cultural showcase, the event served as a tribute to the strong ties between the UAE and Pakistan. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended as guest of honour alongside Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE. Diplomats, community leaders, and prominent business figures joined the crowd, underscoring the event’s diplomatic importance.
In his address, Ambassador Tirmizi praised the UAE’s hospitality and the Pakistani community’s contributions. He highlighted the gathering as “a symbol of unity and shared values between two nations.”
Star Performances Light Up the Night
From 6 p.m., the spotlight shifted to the main stage. Sahir Ali Bagga took charge with his powerful vocals, captivating the audience with patriotic anthems and hit songs. Natasha Baig followed, delivering a high-energy Sufi-rock performance that had the crowd singing along.
Cultural storyteller Yousuf Bashir Qureshi added depth to the evening, weaving narratives about Pakistan’s heritage, resilience, and creativity. The mix of music and storytelling created a night to remember.

Record-Breaking Attendance
Organizers reported record numbers this year, with over 60,000 registrations—quadrupling last year’s attendance of 15,000. The scale of participation solidified the Mega Show’s position as the largest Pakistan Independence Day celebration outside the country.
Dr. Faisal Ikram, President of the Pakistan Association Dubai, emphasized that the event “not only celebrates independence but also reminds us of the sacrifices made for our freedom.” He added that it strengthens community bonds while promoting Pakistan’s culture globally.
