The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has proudly earned two top honors at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025, held from July 18 to 20 at RAF Fairford, United Kingdom.
To begin with, the historic C-130H Hercules stood out for its creative paint scheme and flawless presentation. As a result, it received the Concours d’Elegance Trophy, a prestigious award for the best-presented aircraft on static display.

Meanwhile, the state-of-the-art JF-17 Thunder Block-III captured attention with its bold appearance and superb performance. It won the Spirit of the Meet Trophy, thanks to its striking livery and non-stop transcontinental flight. Notably, the aircraft refueled mid-air, a move that demonstrated both precision and technical excellence.
Moreover, the entire PAF contingent executed a challenging air-to-air refueling operation while en route to the UK. This achievement further proved the operational readiness and advanced capability of Pakistan’s air force.
The RIAT 2025 featured over 250 aircraft from more than 25 countries, making it one of the most competitive and prestigious aviation events worldwide. Therefore, winning two trophies among such international competition is a remarkable milestone for Pakistan.
In addition, the event supports the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust and serves as a vital platform for military diplomacy and aviation excellence. PAF’s participation significantly contributed to Pakistan’s global defense outreach.
The JF-17 Thunder Block-III, developed jointly by Pakistan and China, reflects the nation’s growing technological self-reliance. With its modern radar systems, avionics, and multirole capability, the jet has become a symbol of Pakistan’s defense innovation.
In contrast, the C-130H Hercules has long served as a dependable workhorse. It remains a crucial asset in both combat and humanitarian missions across different terrains.
Furthermore, international observers praised the professionalism of PAF’s crew and the visual appeal of both aircraft. Aviation experts also noted the JF-17’s evolving export potential and aerial prowess.
Additionally, Air Force officials emphasized that these awards showcase years of preparation, discipline, and commitment to excellence. They credited both ground and air crews for their flawless execution.
Ultimately, PAF’s dual victory at RIAT 2025 reflects its mission to defend the nation while proudly representing Pakistan on global platforms. Such achievements not only inspire the nation but also elevate Pakistan’s image in the world of aviation.
