According to details, this is the 24th polio case reported from Jaffarabad this year, highlighting the concerns of ongoing transmission of the virus in the region.
It is worth mentioning here that the recent increase in polio cases in Pakistan has raised concerns for international organizations.
According to sources, the world body has asked Pakistan to implement emergency measures.
As per the media reports, Pakistan has assured international organizations to take immediate steps to control polio.
Moreover, these organizations working to combat the polio virus are likely to visit Pakistan later this month.
It is important to note that earlier, the Regional Reference Laboratory for Reduction at the National Institute of Health Islamabad had confirmed the 48th Wild Polio Virus Type 1 (WPV1) case in Pakistan.
On November 8, 2024, the lab confirmed the detection of WPV1 in a male child from DI Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. DI Khan is one of the polio-affected districts of southern KP.
This was the third case from DI Khan and the 48th in Pakistan this year. So far, 23 cases have been reported from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, ten from KP and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
