Imran Khan moves IHC against transfer to military courts. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against being handed over to military custody related to May 9 cases on Tuesday.
According to the details, the former prime minister filed a petition in IHC seeking not to transfer May 9 cases involving him to the military courts.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Aziz Karamat Bhandari filed a plea on his behalf and made the Secretary of Law, Secretary of Interior, IG Islamabad, IG Punjab, IG Jails, DG FIA, and the federal government respondents in the case.
The petition urged the court to ensure that Imran Khan’s custody was not given to the military.
However, Punjab Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Barth in a talk with journalists said, “No summary regarding sending former prime minister Imran Khan’s cases to military courts has come to the provincial cabinet or the law department as yet. No such proposal is under consideration at the moment.”
Khan is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail under several different cases including corruption and the May 9 riots.
The Punjab government had recently said currently no proposal is under consideration to send Imran Khan’s case to a military court.
