In a devastating incident in Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraban area, 23 soldiers lost their lives as a group of six terrorists targeted a security forces’ post on December 12, 2023. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the attackers attempted to breach the post, but security forces effectively thwarted the attempt. Faced with resistance, the terrorists resorted to ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, followed by a suicide bombing attack.
The resulting explosions caused the collapse of the building, leading to multiple casualties. The ISPR confirmed that 23 brave soldiers embraced martyrdom in the attack, while all six terrorists were effectively engaged and neutralized.
The night of December 11 and 12 witnessed heightened terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district, with a total of 27 terrorists sent to hell during various operations. An intelligence-based operation in Darazinda resulted in the elimination of 17 terrorists as their hideout was busted.

In a separate intelligence-based operation in Kulachi, four terrorists were neutralized after intense exchange of fire. Unfortunately, two soldiers fought gallantly but embraced martyrdom in the process. The ISPR highlighted that the killed terrorists were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians.
The security forces recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives during these operations. Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area. The military’s media wing emphasized the determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country, stating that such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen their resolve.
