Over 5,700 Deportees, Including Beggars, Face Travel Bans
Pakistan Imposes Travel Restrictions on Over 52,000 Deportees to Combat Human Smuggling. In a significant move to curb human smuggling, the Pakistani government has imposed travel restrictions on over 52,000 individuals, according to sources. The restrictions affect Pakistanis deported from the United States, European countries, and Gulf nations, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The Directorate of Passport and Immigration has placed the passports of these individuals on the Passport Control List (PCL), with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) receiving the updated list of restricted persons. The measures aim to address rising concerns over illegal migration and human smuggling.
Among those restricted are 4,210 beggars deported from Saudi Arabia, along with 1,546 individuals from various zones. Additionally, 331 deported beggars and 46,433 individuals returning from UAE prisons have also faced travel bans. Pakistan Travel Restrictions on Deportees is considered as one right step towards managing the country’s passport concerns.
Recently, there were several issues of visa refusals from countries such as United Arab Emirates. This is one of the main reasons the country is taking drastic steps against the misuse of Pakistani passports.
