Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization and former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat. He was a respected Kashmiri intellectual and former Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

In a heartfelt statement, Mushaal described Professor Bhat as “a towering voice of conscience, a scholar of rare depth, and a steadfast advocate of a peaceful, just resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.” She emphasized that his belief in dialogue and non-violence gave hope to generations of Kashmiris striving for dignity and freedom.

She stated that Professor Bhat’s life was a reminder that true leadership is defined by wisdom, patience, and moral courage. Even while facing oppression and personal sacrifice, he stood firm for the principles of peace and justice. According to her, his vision for a peaceful settlement continues to inspire her husband, Yasin Malik, and many others who seek an end to the conflict.

Mushaal also extended her sincere condolences to Professor Bhat’s family, colleagues, and supporters. She prayed that Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah and provide strength to those mourning his loss. She further noted that his legacy would continue to guide the movement for peace and self-determination in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a related message, the Peace and Culture Organization urged regional and international actors to honor Professor Bhat’s memory. They called for renewed efforts toward a peaceful and inclusive dialogue to resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
