KARACHI: In a major educational initiative, the Sindh Textbook Board has announced that students from Class IX to Intermediate level will get free tablets.
As per the details, the purpose of this decision is to address the delay and shortage in the distribution of textbooks and ensure that the education of students proceeds without any hindrance.
The announcement was made during a function at Sindh Textbook Board warehouse in Karachi, which was attended by Sindh Textbook Board Chairman Abdul Aleem Lashari. In his address to the media, Lashari explained that the purpose of distributing the tablets is to prevent any disruption in students’ studies due to lateness or shortage of textbooks.
“To ensure that the delay in textbooks does not hamper the learning of students, we will distribute free tablets to students from Class IX to Intermediate level,” Lashari said.
He explained that the distribution will be done in phases, starting with advanced students and later spread to other classes. The move is part of a broader effort to modernize the education system and eventually convert the Sindh Textbook Board to a paperless model.

Lashari also said that the final decision on the distribution of tablets will be taken by the Sindh Chief Minister after which the implementation process will begin.
The distribution of free textbooks for the current academic year is nearing completion, with around 3 crore books being received from 30 districts across Sindh. The distribution process began on July 30 and will continue with the second phase beginning on August 15.

He assured that the textbooks have been delivered to 17 districts, the distribution process has been completed in Karachi. Any delay in delivery of the book will be addressed by the publishers with appropriate measures.
