NADRA suspended services after the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) failed to pay NADRA a debt of Rs2 million.
ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has suspended birth and death certificate services to the residents of Islamabad due to the utter negligence of the concerned authorities.
According to the details, NADRA suspended services after the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) failed to pay NADRA a debt of Rs2 million.
The Directorate of Municipal Authority (DMA), a subordinate office of MCI, issues birth and death certificates to the residents of Islamabad, however, the service has been suspended for the last three days.
The CDA’s finance department failed to clear outstanding dues due to a lack of funds which resulted in the suspension of services, causing inconvenience to the public such as delays and complications in obtaining their documents.
According to sources, the MCI has repeatedly requested the CDA’s finance department to pay the bill, but the directorate of finance has not taken any action.

The MCI official told a local publication that the matter is expected to be resolved on Thursday (today).
The official said the suspension of the service has left hundreds of people in trouble particularly those who want to travel abroad and those who get their children admitted in educational institutions.
