Global Passport Rankings, Pakistani passport holders gain visa-free access to 34 countries.
Pakistani passport retains unenviable position as fourth-worst globally in latest rankings. According to the Henley Passport Index, Pakistan’s passport has been ranked as the fourth-worst globally for the consecutive fourth year, placing it at 101 out of 104 countries assessed. Despite this ranking, there is a silver lining as Pakistani passport holders can now enjoy visa-free access to 34 countries, meeting all requirements for “visa on arrival” upon arrival at these nations’ airports.
While Pakistan’s passport performance remains below par, the positive development is that individuals with Pakistani passports can secure visas upon arrival at airports in 34 countries worldwide. Notably, this includes access to 29 countries for Syria, 31 for Iraq, and 28 for Afghanistan under visa-free regulations.
Comparatively, other South Asian countries have shown better results in the index. Bangladesh, securing the 97th position, enjoys visa-free access to 42 countries, and Sri Lanka, at 96th place, has improved by one rank. Nepal holds the 98th position, highlighting the regional diversity in passport rankings.
India, however, has outperformed its South Asian counterparts, securing the 80th position globally. Indian passport holders can travel to 62 countries without prior visa requirements.

In the broader context of global passport rankings, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain hold the top positions. Finland, South Korea, and Sweden follow closely in the second position. Austria, Ireland, Denmark, and the Netherlands secure the third position. The United Kingdom stands fourth, while the United States and Canada share the eleventh spot. The United Arab Emirates ranks eleventh globally.
Despite the overall lower ranking for Pakistani passports, the increased number of visa-free access destinations presents a positive outlook for international travel for its citizens. As the global landscape evolves, the ability to access multiple countries without extensive visa requirements is a welcome development for Pakistani passport holders.
