One of the most notable changes is the decision to end the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee once the current officer retires. This move will remove a position that has been part of the country’s military system for decades.
The amendments also officially include the prestigious ranks of Field Marshal, Marshal of the Air Force, and Admiral of the Fleet in Pakistan’s military law, giving these titles legal recognition for the first time.
In addition to defense reforms, the cabinet has also approved the draft of the Federal Constitutional Court (Procedure and Practice) Act, 2025, which aims to strengthen Pakistan’s legal and constitutional framework.
Experts believe these decisions will bring a major transformation in civil-military relations and the country’s defense governance, marking a new chapter in Pakistan’s institutional development.
Meanwhile, officials have rejected social media rumors claiming the appointment of new Deputy or Vice Chiefs of Army Staff. They confirmed that no such positions have been created under the amended Army Act and described the circulating screenshot as fake and digitally fabricated.
