The APA aims to support and highlight the potential of young Pakistani painters.
Young Artists Across Pakistan Invited to Compete in Arjumand Painting Award 2025. Gallery 6 Islamabad is accepting entries for the 6th Arjumand Painting Award (APA) 2025, a prestigious national art competition for emerging painters in Pakistan. Launched in 2015, APA is the first award of its kind initiated by a private gallery in the country. It offers significant cash prizes and nationwide visibility to support young artistic talent.
The award honors creativity, originality, and excellence in painting. This year, APA will offer four major cash prizes:
- First Prize: Rs. 400,000
- Second Prize: Rs. 300,000
- Third Prize: Rs. 200,000
- Merit Award: Rs. 50,000
Alongside these prizes, selected artists will gain access to art residencies, exhibitions, and promotional opportunities both in Pakistan and abroad. These experiences will help participants grow professionally and expand their audience reach.
Eligibility!
To apply, artists must be aged between 20 and 45 years and currently residing in Pakistan. Each applicant can submit one original painting, completed in 2024 or 2025. However, works created digitally, mechanically, or solely as drawings will not be accepted.
Artists should send a high-resolution image of their painting via email by September 26, 2025. Complete submission guidelines and forms are available on Gallery 6’s official Facebook and Instagram pages.
Since its launch, APA has gained recognition as a transparent and credible platform for emerging visual artists. Previous editions have attracted entries from across Pakistan and helped many young painters begin successful careers.
Artist and educator R.M. Naeem said, “APA is a commendable initiative that supports Pakistani art with integrity.” Art critic Aasim Akhtar added, “This award gives young artists the guidance and encouragement they need.” Meanwhile, artist and academic Durriya Kazi noted that the award helps artists adapt to the challenges of a globalized art world.
To broaden its impact in 2025, APA is collaborating with three key supporters: Mrs. Nighat Ali, an art patron from Lahore; the Ercelawn Art Fund, created in memory of economist and activist Aly Alp Ercelawn; and Millat Tractors Limited, a leading name in Pakistan’s industrial sector.
The organizers urge artists from all parts of Pakistan to apply—whether from major cities like Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore or from remote and rural areas. The award welcomes both formally trained and self-taught artists. APA 2025 continues to serve as a vital platform for national recognition and professional growth.
