Persons with disabilities will get lifetime identity cards that will have a wheelchair logo.
NADRA to Unveil Special ID Cards for People with Disabilities & Organ Donors. The federal government of Pakistan has approved amendments to the National Identity Card Act 2002, under which unique identity cards have been introduced for persons with disabilities and organ donors.
A spokesperson for the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) said that the move is aimed at improving accessibility and identification for persons with disabilities.
Persons with disabilities will get lifetime identity cards that will have a wheelchair logo. This logo will also be included in the cards of disabled children, regardless of whether they have a formal card or a temporary one, for easy identification.
Organ donors will also get a special lifetime card that will display both the wheelchair logo and the symbol representing organ donation. Registration with the relevant agencies will be mandatory for organ donation.
A NADRA spokesperson confirmed that the amendments will come into effect after an official notification in the upcoming gazette, after which the implementation will begin.
It is expected that this initiative will not only improve the lives of people with disabilities but also encourage organ donation in Pakistan.
