Shab-e-Miraj: Muslims celebrate night of ascent with devotion
Sindh govt declares school holiday on January 28. The Sindh government has announced the closure of all public institutions on January 28 to observe Shab-e-Meraj.
The notification issued by the education department on Friday stated “All educational institutions under its purview will be closed on January 28, 2025 (Tuesday) on account of Shab-e-Meraj.
Earlier, the College Education Department also issued a notification, announcing that all public and private colleges in the province will remain closed on January 28.
Muslims every year on the 27th of Rajab (Lunar calendar) observe Shab-e-Miraj, the Night of Ascent, with great religious zeal. Muslims offer prayers and attend religious gatherings to celebrate the occasion.
Shab-e-Mairaj marks the Isra (journey) and Mairaj (ascension) of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) who was taken on a special journey to meet Allah Almighty, crossing seven skies on the heavenly animal named ‘al-Buraq’.
