Key discussions at OxfordAQA conference focus on future of education
OxfordAQA leads the way in education innovation at Islamabad Conference. The OxfordAQA School Leaders’ Conference was held in Islamabad, bringing together top educational leaders, policymakers and experts from across the country. The event focused on finding new ways to improve teaching, learning, and assessments in Pakistan.
In his keynote speech, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, the Special Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, stressed the importance of preparing students for the future. He said, “This conference is a great opportunity to discuss how we can improve education and make sure our schools are ready for the challenges of the future.” He also mentioned that the government is working to create a modern curriculum for students, with new technology like AI already being used in some schools.
The theme of the conference was “Innovation in Teaching and Learning.” It featured important speakers, including Andrew Coombe, Managing Director of OxfordAQA International Qualifications, and Walid Mushtaq, CEO of Roots International Schools and Colleges. They shared ideas on how to improve education and make it more effective.
Arshad Saeed Husain, Managing Director of Oxford University Press Pakistan, welcomed everyone and highlighted the need for teamwork and using the best ideas from around the world to improve education in Pakistan. He said, “We need to learn from each other and from what is available in Pakistan. Education should be relevant to our students.”
Salma Adil, Director of OxfordAQA Pakistan, also talked about how OxfordAQA is working to help students develop skills that will prepare them for the future.
Amanda Ingram, Director of Exams at the British Council in Pakistan, shared that the British Council is working closely with OxfordAQA to offer world-class UK qualifications in Pakistan. She praised the success of the first OxfordAQA exam series held in January 2025.
The conference included interesting discussions on topics like “Preparing students for the future,” “Leading change in education,” and “How to get ready for a digital world with OxfordAQA’s assessment system.”
There was also a Q&A session with OxfordAQA leaders, allowing educators to ask questions and learn more about the future of education. This conference was a key moment for educational leaders in Pakistan to exchange ideas and work together to bring positive change to schools.
