Global Leaders urged to address human rights violations in Kashmir & Palestine at Majlis e Rumi Conference
Mushaal slams human rights violations in IIOJK, champions Iqbal’s vision for free Kashmir. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, has strongly condemned the widespread human rights violations and war crimes committed by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Speaking as the chief guest at the International Allama Iqbal Conference titled “Iqbal and Kashmir,” held at the FPCCI, she expressed deep concern over the brutal actions taken against the Kashmiri people, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, mass detentions, and torture.
Mushaal, who is the wife of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, highlighted the continued suppression of Kashmiri identity, culture, and their legitimate struggle for self-determination. She reminded the audience of Allama Iqbal’s powerful vision of a free Kashmir, emphasizing that the poet’s ideas remained a guiding light for the Kashmiri people’s unwavering determination to achieve their rights. Mushaal stressed that the atrocities committed by Indian forces have only strengthened the resolve of the Kashmiri people to fight for their freedom
The conference, organized by Majlis e Rumi and FPCCI, was attended by key figures including Senator Mushaid Hussain Syed, Prof Zafar Sindhu, Ijaz, President of FPCCI, Mehmood Mian, Dr. Waqar, Sabien Hussein Mullick, Ishtiaq Bhatt, members of the Pakistani business community, and intellectuals.
Mushaal also drew attention to the ongoing human rights violations faced by both Kashmiris and Palestinians, drawing parallels between their struggles for self-determination. She emphasized that Iqbal’s message of resilience, hope, and resistance remains relevant today, urging the international community to take immediate action to address the dire situation in IIOJK and support the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples in their fight for justice.
Reciting Iqbal’s poignant lines from his famous poem “Aaj Woh Kashmir Hai Mahkoom-o-Majboor-o-Faqeer,” Mushaal highlighted the tragic reality of Kashmir’s current situation, contrasting it with the once hopeful vision of Kashmir as “minor Iran” in the eyes of the world. She called on the global powers and human rights organizations to stop turning a blind eye to the plight of these oppressed people.
