LAHORE: Government College University Lahore (GCUL) has issued a dress code for female students, here on Thursday.
A number of Pakistani universities have dress codes in light of balancing cultural and religious values with a professional academic environment. These dress codes emphasize modesty, which usually means for women wearing long skirts or trousers and tops with sleeves, often paired with a hijab or scarf.
In a notification shared by GC Lahore, a new dress code has been introduced in which female students are banned from wearing jeans. Under the new regulations, students are not allowed to wear T-shirts and jeans.
Administration directed male students to wear dress shirts and pants, while all inter students must wear uniforms.
All students are required to wear the University ID card in the campus and classrooms. Those not following the dress code will face fines.
