RAWALPINDI – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and its leadership are proxy of terror outfits.
Addressing a press conference, the military spokesperson said the BYC received funding from anti-Pakistan elements and tried to create chaos by gathering a crown.
“Their foreign masters help them financially in guise of human rights funding,” Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said. He highlighted that stones were pelted on pilgrims travelling to Iran during the BYC protest, adding that they wanted anarchy in the country.
Responding to another question, he said military’s stance on May 9 violent protests remains unchanged that those involved in the riots must be brought to book.
He said that there will also be no change in the stance of army regard the May 9 episode.

He said law is the first defence line against digital terrorism, adding that those involved in such activities will be brought to justice.
Responding to another question, he said Pakistan Army is triying to curb illegal trade in order to save the national exchequer. He pointed out that militaries across the world support their governments to achieve economic growth.
The DG ISPR said people living near Pak-Iran border depends on trade with Iran, adding that measures being taken to minimize the smuggling of petroleum products from the neighbouring country.
“If border with Iran is totally closed, mafia will get a change to use it against army,” he said.

He also rejected the allegations that any permits are issued by army or FC for trade on border with Afghanistan.
At one point, he remarked that Pakistan Army’s officers and troops are not the elite of the country.
Earlier, he briefed media on he anti-terror efforts, saying so far, 23,622 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) have been conducted in the ongoing year. He revealed that 2,045 operations were conducted in the last 15 days, adding that 24 terrorists were killed during these IBOs/
Recalling last week’s government’s notification which declared the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” he said the terror outfits had nothing to do with Islam.
