ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police conducted an intelligence-based operation and recovered hand grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, detonators, and suicide vests from the Sangjani area.
Federal capital police saved the city from a terror attack ahead of the holy month of Muharram, police said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the police spokesperson, intelligence-based operations are being conducted in Islamabad daily in view of security during Muharram. During an operation in the Sangjani police station area, some suspects fled the spot while firing into the air after seeing the police team.

The police surrounded the area and started searching with the help of more personnel. During the search, police took Kalashnikov, hand grenades, detonators, wire, and suicide vest into custody. A bomb disposal squad has been called in to defuse the explosives.
Islamabad police registered an FIR at the CTD police station. Police have started an operation to apprehend the accused and initiated further investigation into the matter.
