Tragedy struck in Shangla’s Besham city as a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals fell victim to a heinous attack, resulting in the loss of at least six lives. Malakand’s deputy inspector general of police (DIG) confirmed the incident on Tuesday, shedding light on the horrific details.
According to the DIG, assailants targeted the vehicle carrying the Chinese nationals, deliberately crashing their own vehicle, loaded with explosives, into the innocent victims’ car. The devastating attack claimed the lives of five Chinese engineers who were en route from Islamabad to Dasu camp in Kohistan. Additionally, a Pakistani driver accompanying them was severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a local hospital.
Following the harrowing incident, a swift response from security forces ensued, with a heavy contingent arriving at the scene to secure the area. A thorough search operation was launched to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the cowardly act.
In response to the tragic event, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari unequivocally condemned the act of terrorism and the loss of precious lives, extending heartfelt condolences to the Chinese government.
