PTI Admits Losing 80+ Seats Due to Flawed Decisions. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior figure Sher Afzal Marwat has openly acknowledged that the party’s electoral setbacks, amounting to over 80 lost seats in national and provincial assemblies, were primarily due to internal decisions that were deemed flawed.
During a recent appearance on a private news channel, Marwat delved into two key decisions he believed significantly impacted PTI’s electoral performance following the February 8 elections. He highlighted the party’s withdrawal from a potential electoral alliance with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Shirani (JUI-Shirani) and the subsequent agreement with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Nazriati (PTI-N) as pivotal moments that led to adverse outcomes.
Marwat stressed the necessity for a party-level inquiry to determine accountability for these decisions, particularly regarding the contentious issue of the electoral symbol switch from JUI-S to PTI-N.
He emphasized that different decisions could have prevented PTI from losing its electoral symbol and allowed candidates to contest under the JUI-S platform even after the symbol change.

Additionally, Marwat highlighted another significant misstep: PTI’s alliance with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) to secure reserved seats. He admitted that threats received due to this alliance forced PTI to ally with Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), further exacerbating their electoral losses.
