Led by the exceptional batting performances of Agha Salman and Captain Shadab Khan, Islamabad United chased down a formidable target of 197 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Captain Shadab Khan stole the show with a breathtaking knock of 74 runs off just 41 balls, showcasing his aggressive yet calculated batting style with six boundaries and five maximums. Salman Agha complemented Khan’s brilliance with a stellar innings of his own, smashing 64 runs off 31 balls, adorned with seven fours and three sixes.

The duo’s remarkable partnership, supported by valuable contributions from Alex Hales (36 runs) and Extras (21 runs), propelled Islamabad United to a commanding victory in the highly anticipated opening match of the PSL.

Earlier in the match, Lahore Qalandars had set a challenging target of 196 runs, courtesy of Rassie van der Dussen’s commanding 71-run innings and Sahibzada Farhan’s valuable 57-run knock.

Despite their formidable total, Lahore Qalandars struggled to contain Islamabad United’s aggressive batting lineup, with only Zaman Khan and Salman Fayyaz managing to take a wicket apiece.

For Islamabad United, the pace duo of Tymal Mills and Naseem Shah played pivotal roles in restricting Lahore Qalandars’ batting onslaught. Mills emerged as the pick of the bowlers with two crucial wickets for 45 runs, while Shah and Captain Khan provided crucial breakthroughs with a wicket each.
