Khattak’s resignation follows a lackluster performance by the PTI-P in the February 8 polls.
Why Pervez Khattak reigns from PTI-P? Details Inside. Pervez Khattak, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P), has tendered his resignation from the party’s leadership and membership, citing serious health concerns. Khattak’s decision comes in the aftermath of a disappointing performance by the PTI-P in the recently held nationwide elections.
Announcing his resignation on Saturday, Khattak expressed regret over stepping down from his position, attributing the decision to his health condition. In a copy of his resignation letter, Khattak conveyed his inability to fulfill his duties effectively due to health reasons, stating, “It is with a heavy heart that I write to tender my resignation from the position of party chairman and membership, due to serious health issues, effective from today.”
The former PTI-P chief, who was once a close aide of PTI founder Imran Khan and later formed his faction, acknowledged the honor of serving as the party chairman but emphasized his incapacity to continue due to health-related challenges.
Khattak’s resignation follows a lackluster performance by the PTI-P in the February 8 polls, where the party only secured two provincial seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) despite a vigorous election campaign marked by massive public gatherings.

Prior to Khattak’s resignation, other political figures, including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Sirajul Haq and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) founder-cum-patron-in-chief Jahangir Tareen, also stepped down from their party offices after facing setbacks in the nationwide elections.
The resignation of Pervez Khattak adds to the wave of post-election developments reshaping the political landscape in Pakistan, with the PTI-P now facing the challenge of leadership transition amidst health concerns raised by its former chairman.
