Magnitude 6 earthquake hits different part of Pakistan

Panic Grips Regions in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck various regions of Pakistan today, sending shockwaves through parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The seismic event, originating in the Hindukush region, prompted residents in affected areas to rush out of their homes in fear, reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba for protection.

The tremors were reported in several cities and districts, including Swat, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Islamabad, Lahore, Swabi, Kohat, Abbottabad, Sargodha, Peshawar, Batgram, Khyber, Landi Kotal, Barra, Chitral, and others. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) revealed that the earthquake’s depth was recorded at 213 kilometers.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage to property have been received, but the NSMC is actively monitoring the situation. Emergency response teams have been deployed to assess the aftermath and provide assistance if necessary.

This seismic activity follows a similar incident in November when a 3.3 magnitude earthquake rattled Gilgit and nearby areas. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or property damage on that occasion.

The NSMC in Islamabad confirmed that the recent earthquake had a depth of 213 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the Hindukush region, 84 kilometers northwest. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols in the aftermath of the earthquake.
