This marks the third summons related to the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s sit-in at the Faizabad flyover.
Dharna Case: former spy chief denies conspiracy against the govt. Former ISI Chief, Lt. Gen. (R) Faiz Hameed, asserted on Thursday that he played no part in any conspiracy against the PML-N government in 2017.
The former spymaster was summoned by the panel — investigating the 2017 sit-in staged by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) — thrice but he failed to appear before it.
He was then sent a questionnaire by the commission to which he responded and stated that he held negotiations with the TLP on the directions of the government.
Testifying before the Dharna Commission, he refuted allegations and clarified that his negotiations with Tehreek Labaik Pakistan were carried out on the government’s directives, according to sources.
The Commission of Inquiry (CoI) had summoned ex ISI Chief Faiz Hameed to record his statement in the Faizabad Dharna Inquiry Commission through the Ministry of Defence.
Chaired by Akhtar Ali Shah, the Dharna Commission is actively conducting proceedings in Islamabad, with former IG Tahir Alam and Khushhal Khan also present as part of the commission.
Earlier summonses were issued for Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed’s appearance in December 2023, but he ignored them.
This marks the third summons related to the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s sit-in at the Faizabad flyover.
