This surpasses the threshold of 151, marking the air as unhealthy, and the city has now climbed from the ninth to the top spot on the list of the most polluted cities globally.
Intense smog engulfed DHA phase 5 emerging as the epicenter of pollution in Lahore, with an alarming AQI of 325, while eight other areas recorded readings exceeding 200.
The metropolis, along with other cities in Punjab, remains under a month-long smog emergency declared since early November.

Motorway closures
Travelers on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway M11 faced disruptions as it was closed due to fog early Tuesday morning, prompting the Motorway Police to advise citizens against unnecessary travel.
A spokesman emphasized the use of fog lights while driving and encouraged seeking guidance through the helpline 130 or Twitter during the journey.
