PTI’s Pervez Khattak steps down from party position

PTI’s Pervez Khattak steps down from party position. Pervez Khattak has announced quitting party office amid reports of his arrest.

The seasoned politician holds a brief presser in which he announced stepping down as party’s KP president and PTI’s core committee. Imran Khan’s close aide said he had already condemned May 9 incidents.

Khattak made the announcement, hours after Imran Khan claimed that members of the PTI negotiating committee have been prevented from leaving the location where they were invited for talks.

Previosuly, media reports claimed that former minister and national assembly speaker were held as they arrived in the capital from Peshawar.

Khattak and Qaiser, the close aides of embattled PTI chairman Imran Khan, were part of the committee to hold negotiations. Several leaders of the former ruling party including Shah Mahmood Qureshi are behind bars amid ongoing negotiations.

Authorities continued to tighten noose against PTI office-bearers after violent protests as activists damaged public property, state assets and sensitive installations. some of the members also stormed the Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, Corps Commander House in Lahore and Radio Pakistan in Peshawar.
