Pakistan will now play Korea on Sunday at the same venue in their next game.
IPOH: Pakistan hockey team defeated Malaysia 5-4 on Saturday with a last-minute winner by Abu Mahmood in their Sultan Azlan Shah Cup match in Ipoh, Malaysia.
The nine-goal thriller saw some of the best goals as the Green Shirts managed to emerge triumphant after a long 60 minutes.
In the ninth minute of the game, Pakistan was awarded a penalty corner, which Sufyan Khan easily converted. But Malaysia equalized the score shortly after, thanks to a goal from Abu Kamal Arzai for the home team.
After a goalless first quarter, Arzai’s second goal gave Malaysia the lead in the second quarter. Similar to the first two quarters, Arzai’s third quarter saw him secure his hat-trick and put his team ahead.

Pakistan appeared to be having trouble getting past Malaysia’s defense as they were controlling the game, but they managed to rally and score two goals in a short time. Zikriya Hayat scored in the 53rd minute, and Sufyan scored in the 50th.
With only four minutes remaining until the final whistle, Malaysia appeared to have won the unpredictable match. Marhan Jalil gave them the lead again in the 56th minute.
However, it proved not to be the case as Pakistan leveled as Sufyan scored in the 59th minute with another strong attacking performance. After a thrilling match, Pakistan prevailed thanks to a penalty corner that Abu Mahmood converted shortly after Sufyan’s goal.
Pakistan will now play Korea on Sunday at the same venue in their next game.
