Harbhajan Singh shares what gifts ‘Lala’ used to bring for him. Former Indian all-rounder Harbhajan Singh shared he was friends with many members of the Pakistan squad and one of them was Shahid Afridi aka “Lala”.
“Lala would bring me gifts, particularly Punjabi dramas and Peshawari jutti [chappals],” Singh said in a video statement.
He revealed that Saqlain Mushtaq was also one of his first Pakistani friends.
On his off-the-field interaction with players, Singh said they used to talk about bowling.
“I was friends with Saqlain Mushtaq. I used to discuss cricket with him. After befriending him, I met his whole team.”
Recalling the historic Pakistan-India Test series, Harbhajan said: “I remember the 1999 Test against Pakistan in Delhi where Anil bhai took 10 wickets. I was also playing in that game.”

Shahid Khan Afridi known as Shahid Afridi, is a former Pakistani cricketer and captain of the Pakistan national cricket team. An all-rounder, Afridi was a right-handed leg spinner and a right-handed batsman.
Afridi made his ODI debut in 1996, his Test debut in 1998 and his T20I debut in 2006.
Afridi was player of the match in the final of the 2009 T20 World Cup scoring an unbeaten 54, having also been the player of the tournament in the 2007 edition.
He led the Pakistan team in the 2011 Cricket World Cup where they reached the semi-finals before losing to rival India.
In tests, Afridi was captain for just one match before resigning and retiring from the format, a move which allowed Salman Butt to replace him.
Harbhajan Singh (born 3 July 1980) is a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and a former Indian cricketer and cricket commentator who played for the Indian national cricket team.
A specialist spin bowler, Singh played for India between 1998 and 2016. Domestically he was captain of Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians and captained Punjab for the 2012–13 Ranji Trophy season.
Under his captaincy, Mumbai won the 2011 Champions League Twenty20.
